About The Theophany (Epiphany)
The commemoration of the Baptism of our Lord Jesus Christ by John the Baptist in the Jordan River, when the Holy Trinity was revealed: the Son in the water, the Holy Spirit like a dove, and the voice of the Father from heaven (Matthew 3:16-17). It is therefore also called the Feast of the Divine Manifestation. On its eve the Church prays the Liturgy of the Water (Laqqan), and there is no fasting on the feast even when it falls on a Wednesday or a Friday.
