Why does Coptic Easter move every year?
The Coptic Church reckons Easter every year by the Epact calculation, so it always falls on a Sunday between early April and early May, and the Fast of Nineveh, Great Lent, Palm Sunday, the Ascension, Pentecost and the Apostles' Fast move with it. Fixed feasts such as the Nativity (29 Koiak, January 7), the Theophany (11 Tobi, January 19) and El-Nayrouz (1 Thout) keep the same Coptic date every year.
